Thank you Marisa, for saying that. I also feel the same way (structure similarities and whatnot), but I guess I just got agitated because Jono says he's heard that from the beginning yet failed to tell me or Zach when we write our songs together. So I don't like hearing that a year and a half down the road of our progress instead of much earlier.
And you're right, though. Sometimes listening track after track of an album does make your brain vulernable to either get annoyed of "repetitive" music. That's in quotes because when one actually just listens to a song at a time in intervals, the appreciation of the difference within that song is generally higher - just like you were saying. So yeah, I agree.
It's all in the brain, baby.....I mean, Marisa.

rock history huh? well are we talkin classic or mdoern cause he may bebiased toward classic...most people who are biased toward classic rock feel that todays rock musicians are horrible compared to the musicians of old. Which im not dissin the classics i eman they are what brought rock around im just sayin rock is different now and well its just not what it used to be and that doesnt have to be a bad thing. In fact it can be a very good thing. genres change its just how it is i thinkthis professor guy just needs to deal with it.

NO ONE listens to EVERYTHING. Music is a matter of opinion. A music professor may be able to dissect the music into scales and styles and techniques, but this doesn't change a damn thing concerning his personal taste in music. The only way I could honestly believe him is if I knew precisely why he thinks what he thinks. What makes him think it's all the same? Rhythm? Patterns? Scales? Cale's voice? The guitars? The Drums? Just what is it that makes him listen to the whole CD and think: This is all the same ?

In college, Jono, you will have to learn to defend your thesis.

nothing really i just dont think you guys should reap this far into what people think of the music... i mean to a certain extent, it can be important because if alot of people dont like something about it and you want to become popular with them then , yeah, you should care. but if its just one person, well, everyone has theyre own opinion... i just think its kinda dumb that you guys care so much about 1 little opinion, i mean the music buisiness is VERY opinionated.... there are gonna be ALOT of different opinions... i dont think you guys should focus on them.... but thats just me * bekka p.s- im half asleep/upset so this probably didnt make alot of sense

This made plenty of sense, Bekka, and I'm glad you pointed this out. However, Jono said/is saying that many people have said this very thing about our music. So it is in fact more than one opinion we're dealing with. Moreover, Jono is allowing himself to be affected by what they are saying -- he apparently agrees with them. If he disagreed -- and said so -- it would not be worth discussing. However, because one-third of the band thinks that our songs sound the same, and we all agree that this is not a good thing, this is something we need to confront and resolve.
